About SGM SportsSports Requirements     February 10, 2012
Sports Participation & Eligibility Requirements Minimize

A child must be a member in good standing within our Parish during the season in order to participate in any sport at any time.

The child must be grade eligible to play in a particular sport.  For example, the child must be entering Kindergarten in the following Fall for Baseball/Softball and Soccer; 1st Grade for Track & Field; 2nd Grade for Golf; and 3rd Grade for Basketball and Volleyball).

This child's family must live within the boundaries of our parish.  This child must be eligible within the guidelines of the specific sports league he/she participates in, including a waiver from the appropriate league authority if the family does not live in the SGM boundaries.  If special permission is granted from the league office in order for this player to participate in the sport, the sports commissioner will inform the family and/or coach.

Any interested child of either St. Gerard Majella Catholic School or a member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Parish is required to register on this website for their interested sport.

Furthermore, a child must secure permission from his/her parent or legal guardian by filling out our online registration form, which shall include a Release/Waiver of Liability. If the parent or legal guardian cannot perform the online duties as described hereby, then he/she will not be eligible to play.

A family registering a child to play a sport at SGM must pay all fees and deposits associated with that sport including, where appropriate, a registration fee, concession stand fee, gym monitor fee, non-parishioner fee and uniform deposit. The Registrar shall determine the registration fee with approval by the Majella Club. The factors considered in determining a registration fee shall include: registration fees; league fees; costs of officials; cost of facilities, including costs associated with SGM facilities and rental costs; costs associated with participating in tournaments; and uniform replacement costs, etc.

A child must be registered within the deadlines set forth by the Registrar and specific sports commissioner. Children who fail to register before the deadline may only participate at the discretion of the Registrar and sports commissioner when their participation is in the best interest of the SGM sports programs.
