Family Devotions
Listen to Your Parents
Proverbs 1:8 NIV

"Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching."

God gave me parents for protection and correction until I can function by myself. They program me with correct and acceptable actions and reactions until I can make my own decisions.

My parents would never allow me to do something that would harm me. They would never tell me to do something that would be wrong or damaging to me.

I WILL LISTEN TO MY PARENTS BECAUSE THEY ARE SET IN AUTHORITY BY GOD.

Honor Your Parents
Ephesians 6:2-3 NIV

"Honor your father and motherwhich is the first commandment with a promise that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

My parents (whatever their age) deserve my respect and honor. Long life is for those who keep this commandment.

I WILL HONOR MY FATHER AND MY MOTHER. THEY ARE WORTH OF MY RESPECT.

Know His Peace

My children are my life. I desire that they know the Lord and His peace.

"All your sons will be taught by the Lord, and great will be your children's peace." Isaiah 54:13

WHAT BETTER BLESSING FOR MY CHILDREN THAN TO BE TAUGHT BY THE LORD AND KNOW HIS PEACE!

Walk As You Were Brought Up

The early years of a child are very important to his later life.

"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6 KJV

I WILL REMEMBER HOW I WAS BROUGHT UP AND WILL WALK IN THAT WAY.

Look Like Your Father
Psalm 17:15 Amplified

We always try to figure out whom the baby looks like.

"As for me I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."

I WANT TO LOOK JUST LIKE MY FATHER!

The Foundation of Your Home
Proverbs 24:3 Amplified

What is the foundation upon which your house is built?

"Through skillful and godly Wisdom is a house (a life, a home, a family) built, and by understanding it is established on a sound and good foundation."

GODLY WISDOM IS THE FOUNDATION OF MY HOME.

Parental Counsel
Proverbs 13:14 Amplified

Our wise parents desire a good life for us. Their counsel helps us avoid many pitfalls.

"The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, that one may avoid the snares of death."

I WILL LISTEN TO MY PARENTS BECAUSE THEY DESIRE ONLY THE BEST FOR ME.

Your Children, A Priceless Heritage
Psalm 127:3-5a Amplified

My children - a priceless heritage!

"Lo, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one' s youth. Happy, blessed and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them!"

MY CHILDREN SHALL RISE UP AND CALL ME BLESSED BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN A BLESSING TO THEM.

Grandchildren, a Crown of Life
Proverbs 17:6a KJV

My grandchildren are precious because they are the offspring of my children.

"Children's children are the crown of old men."

I WILL ENJOY MY GRANDCHILDREN AS A CROWN OF LIFE.

A Husband's Duty
Isaiah 54:5a KJV

A husband's duty is to provide for and protect his wife. What about those women with no husband? Who will provide for and protect them?

"For thy Maker is thine husband."

THE LORD PROVIDES FOR ME AS A HUSBAND

A Perfect Plan
1 Corinthians 11:11-12 Weymouth

From the beginning, God ordained that male and female should be one in HIM. One sex is not more important than the other. Both are needed to complete God's plan.

"Yet, in the Lord, woman is not independent of man nor man independent of woman. For just as woman originates from man, so also man comes into existence through woman, but everything springs originally from God."

THANK YOU, LORD, FOR SUCH A PERFECT PLAN!

Our Father Hears Us
1 John 5:14-15 KJV

A child is not afraid to ask his father for anything. He knows that his father loves him and wants only the best for him.

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him."

FATHER, WHATEVER I ASK IN YOUR NAME AND ACCORDING TO YOUR WILL, I KNOW IS MINE BECAUSE YOU HEAR ME.

Listen to Your Parents
Proverbs 4:10-11 KJV

Listen to your parents. Their wisdom will save your life.

"Hear, O my, son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths."

I WILL LISTEN TO MY PARENTS AND ENJOY A LONG, HAPPY LIFE.

Examples of Righteousness
Proverbs 23:26 KJV

Fathers and mothers are to be examples of righteousness for their children.

"My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways."

MY SON CAN OBSERVE MY WAYS AND FOLLOW THEM IN RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Riches of Love
Proverbs 24:3-4 KJV

Upon what foundation is your house established and what fills the rooms of your house?

"Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches."

MY HOUSE IS BUILT UPON THE ROCK AND IT SHALL BE FILLED WITH RICHES OF LOVE.

Parental Love
Isaiah 31:3 KJV

Parental love is an everlasting love. No matter what we do or say, they still love us. How much more does our Heavenly Father love?

"Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee."

IN ALL MY ACTIONS, I WILL MIRROR THE LOVE WITH WHICH GOD LOVES ME.

Genuine Faith in God
2 Timothy 1:5 KJV

My children have grown up with a mother and grandmother who set examples in genuine faith in God.

"When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also."

I WILL CONTINUE TO BE AN EXAMPLE IN WORD AND DEED AND FAITH FOR MY CHILDREN.

The Success of Our Children
Proverbs 23:24 KJV

Fathers feel a special joy in that their children are reflections of themselves. Any dad feels pride when his child succeeds in sports, academics, etc.

"The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice; and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him."

I WILL HAVE GREAT JOY WHEN MY CHILD SUCCEEDS.

Because the Father Said So
Psalm 119:162 KJV

Parents tell their children "because I said so." Their word is law because they love and protect their offspring. How much more should we love the Word of our Heavenly Father.

"Thy word is true from the beginning." Psalm 119:160 KJV

"I rejoice at thy word."
I KNOW THAT I AM LOVED BECAUSE THE FATHER SAID SO.

We Will Serve the Lord
Joshua was a father in charge of his household and their spiritual welfare. He told the children of Israel to choose this day whom they would serve. Then Joshua announced his decision.

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

Joshua 24:15b KJV

I DECLARE WITH JOSHUA THAT MY HOUSEHOLD WILL SERVE THE LORD OUR GOD.

Learn from Your Elders
Much wisdom is to be found in the elderly, especially our parents. We need to learn from their experiences.

"Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations; ask thy father and he will show thee."

Deuteronomy 32:7 KJV

I WILL LISTEN AND LEARN FROM MY ELDERS.

Father's Day
Proverbs 23:15 KJV

Father's Day is a time for giving gifts to our dads. What better gift than for him to kow that you are wise in the ways of the Lord.

"My son, if thine hears be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine."

I WILL CAUSE MY DAD'S HEART TO REJOICE BECAUSE OF MY GOOD CHOICES.

God's Word and God's Love
1 John 2:5 NIV

How do our children show their love for us, as parents? It's not because they tell us that they love us, but it's because they listen to us and obey us.

"But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him."

I OBEY GOD'S WORD, THEREFORE GOD'S LOVE IS MADE COMPLETE IN ME.

Born of God, His Child
God says He is our Father. Then that makes us:

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God."

1 John 3:1 KJV

I AM BORN OF GOD: HIS CHILD!

My Children Walk in Truth
3 JOHN 4 KJV

All parents have bragging rights about their children.

"I have not greater joy than to hear that my children walk in TRUTH."

MY CHILDREN WALK IN TRUTH.

Concerns for Our Children
Isaiah 44:3 KJV

Do you have concerns for your children? As children, do your parents have concern over you?

God has promised.

"I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring."

GOD'S SPIRIT IS UPON MY CHILDREN BECAUSE HE SAID IT WAS SO.
