Chesterfield Hockey Association, Inc. (CHA) was founded in 1995 as a not-for-profit corporation established for the development and operation of amateur youth hockey in far west St. Louis County. In 1996, CHA commenced play as a member of the Missouri Amateur Hockey Association, the local USA Hockey governing body for this area.
CHA enrolls about 400 players each fall season and hundreds more in our spring and summer leagues. This makes it one of the largest youth hockey clubs in the area. Players range in age from 4 to 17 years. The Zip codes we serve include: 63005, 63011, 63017, 63025, 63038, 63040 and 63069 along with areas outside of districted areas.
The Hardee's Iceplex is our home rink. Located in Chesterfield, Missouri, this triplex consists of two NHL-sized rinks and one Olympic-sized rink. The facility includes a pro-shop, large concession/lobby area, meeting rooms and spacious locker rooms.
Chesterfield Hockey prides itself on providing year-round developmental opportunities and a full spectrum of hockey programs from the Initiation Program to some of the most competitive leagues in the country. Our mission is to be the best Tier II and Tier III club in the area and to develop and advance deserving players to Tier I careers with the AAA Amateur Blues, Missouri Hockey's recognized Tier I affiliate club.
About Our Hockey Programs
Central States League
Our Central States teams participate in the Chicago-based CSDHL, an elite Tier II league of teams administered by the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois. This program offers players the opportunity to compete against the best AAA and AA talent from around the Midwest. The CSDHL program includes excellent coaching, additional practices & games and the opportunity to participate in high level tournaments, beyond the scope of traditional AA programs. CHA conducts tryouts in June and teams skate from August through March.
Missouri Hockey League
Our Travel program teams play in a competitive league that is tiered appropriately for all skill levels. Compared to the Recreational or House League, the Travel program is offered for players looking for a greater level of competition. Tryouts are held in August and the season runs through early March. These teams compete against hockey associations from the St. Louis area and as far away as Jeff City, Springfield, IL, and Kansas City. Additionally, Travel teams may participate in out-of-town competitive tournaments based upon the interest level of the team members. Ample practice times, solid coaching and reduced rosters have made the Chesterfield Hockey Association Travel program very competitive. We aim to sustain a successful formula that provides excellent development opportunities for all players, fun and excitement for players and families alike, and a good overall youth hockey environment.
Missouri Hockey Recreational League
Our Recreational League (aka Rec or House program) has a commitment to even ice time in a more casual environment than the travel program. The Rec league is perfect for those players who are new to hockey or for those who don't want to commit to the demands of the travel league. This program runs from September through early March. Recreational teams play games against other association's Rec teams throughout the St Louis area in the Gateway Rec Hockey League. The goal of this program is for all players to have an enjoyable hockey experience while improving their skill level. Many players use the Recreational program as a development platform for a future Travel league career.
CHA's Initiation program offers new skaters the opportunity to launch their hockey career in an enthusiastic, nurturing environment. The club offers three different sessions of the Initiation program, generally starting in September, January and April. Initiation program skaters normally range from 3 to 11 years of age. For info on getting started, please contact our Initiation Program Director.
Spring Hockey League
CHA's Spring Hockey League runs from April until late May/early June. Spring offers players from all skill levels a chance to play where the emphasis is less on competition and more on fun. Spring league is typically 8-10 games. Spring league is a perfect program where you can skate with friends, keep your skills sharp, and allow for time to pursue other sports and hobbies.
3 On 3 Summer Hockey
Our Summer 3 on 3 league is a cross-ice skill-based league which runs from June to early August. This non-check format allows kids a chance to stay in shape with this fast paced, small area game.
CAMPS & CLINICS
CHA also offers conditioning camps, specialized skill clinics, checking camps, and pre-tryout skates. These are offered periodically throughout the year.
In summary, the Chesterfield Hockey Association provides hockey programs for players of all ages and skill levels. We believe that we offer the best environment for youth hockey that balances the important aspects of player development, fun, and family atmosphere.
