Coaching Information

Coaches and Volunteers:

It is hard to believe but the 2010 CYFL football season is quickly approaching. Just like last season there are some new things going on with our league and we want to tell you all about them.    Attached is the coaching application and coach's code of conduct.  Every coach needs to fill out both forms and submit them by June 7th

Quick hits on some changes for 2010:

  • Columbia Colts expand to include 5th and 6th grade teams
  • 7th and 8th grade Colts are combined to create two teams divided by school district (Hickman / Rock Bridge).
  • Colts to play in the St. Louis Gateway League
  • Grades 3 thru 8 draft their own teams (no placement by the board).
  •  3rd annual Tiger Youth Football Camp at Faurot field

If you have questions don't hesitate to contact Mike Morris @ morris951@aol.com  (573-881-6262) or Chad Henry @ tigerchad@hotmail.com (573-864-1988).

Certification: Additionally, to coach in CYFL, every coach must be certified by NYSCA or USA Football. If you are a NEW coach, you must be certified. NYSCA Certification is valid for 1 year and costs $20. USA Football Coaching Certification is valid for 1 year and costs $25. As a member of either program, upon completion of either program certification, you become eligible for up to $1M in general liability insurance for youth and amateur football related activities. Please click either link NYSCA Online Clinics or USA Football Certified Coaching Education Program (CCEP). Each program requires registration. Both feature new and continuing membership. Effective 2011, USA Football will be the preferred Coaches Certification program of CYFL.

Certification must be completed by July 31st. Disclaimer: Due to limited coaching vacancies in the CYFL, you are not guaranteed a coaching position. You will have to pay via credit card if you choose the online certification option. If you have any questions, please contact Chad Henry at 864-1988.
