CYAA Recreational Softball All-Star Team The CYAA Board has decided that for the 2008 season there will be at least
one All-Star Team in the 9-11 and 12-14 age groups this year. Players for
the All-Star Team will be selected from those kids who played in the 2008
CYAA Recreational Softball League. Coaches will be selected by the
CYAA Rules and Coaches Committee and will come from the group of
coaches which coached in the 2008 CYAA Recreational Softball League.
NOTE:
It is critical to note that being named to represent a CYAA Recreational
Softball All-Star Team is a privilege and not a right. It should reward those
players who have had a successful season on the field, and are being
recognized for their efforts.
Purpose:
There are two reasons for offering an All-Star Girls Softball Team: to honor
and provide an extended league for those kids who wish to continue to play
and have shown a greater ability to play the game of Softball than their
peers, but did not choose to try out, or make a competitive Softball team. To
put together a team that will be competitive with other teams in the area
where “all-star” competition is held.
Commitment:
Players and coaches selected for an All-Star Team must be committed to
making all practices and tournaments scheduled for that team. Coaches and
teams will be picked prior to the end of the regular season. The All Star
teams will play one tournament and/or one to two exhibition games
depending on the skill level and make-up of the team. These games will be
scheduled to take place AFTER the CYAA Recreational Softball season is
over. In no way will the selection to an All-Star Team take away from your
commitment to your recreational team.

Selection Process:It is critical to note that being selected to represent CYAA on an All-Star team is a privilege and not a right. It should reward those players who have had a successful season on the field, and are being recognized for their
efforts.All-Star Age Groups: For the 2008 season CYAA will sanction a Girls All-Star Softball Team from the 9-11 year old age group, and
one from the 12-14 year old age group.
All-Star Coaches Selection: Coaches will apply for the position of All-Star Coaches. The CYAA Rules and Coaches committee will then
review applications and make selections. Selections should be completed by May 16th . Each coach will be allowed to name one assistant coach which must also be approved by the Rules and Coaches committee. The
assistant coach can be named after the team has been selected, but still need to be approved by the CYAA Rules
and Coaches committee.
All-Star Player Selection:
Each manager will be asked to nominate (2) deserving players from his roster and (8) deserving players from his division.
• The players on each team will vote on 2 deserving players from their team. The top 2 vote getters from each team will be added to the list.
• All nominations will need to be turned into the All-Star Committee by May 23rd . • Players and team selections will be complete no later than June 1 st . After all nominations are received, the All-Star Committee will rank the players based on number of votes
received and contact the top 12 players for each division and age group. The players will be told that they
have been selected for the All-Star team, and will be asked for their verbal acceptance to that team. Parents
will be told of their expected commitment to the team. If parents and players accept the invitation to the
team they will be added to the team list. If a player declines the invitation to play, the next ranked player
will be offered the spot on the team. Only after the roster has been set by the All-Star Committee will the list
of names be given to the head coach. At which time he can then personally contact each player.
NOTE: There will be no more than 12 players per team.
Practice Rules:Practice space and time will be provided to each All-Star Team by the CYAA Scheduling Committee. Teams
will be allowed to practice no more than three times a week and no longer than two hours at a time.
No All-Star team will begin practice until after End of Season Tournament has completed. [Exceptions could
be made if End of Season Tournament runs longer than scheduled date] If exception is made, All-Star
Committee will make sure that All-Star Team practice has no impact on a team that is still in the End of Season
Tournament.Parents / Players Commitment:After accepting a spot on the All-Star Team, each parent and player must sign a commitment letter agreeing to
make all tournaments and practices. The only excused absence will be illness. If vacation or other family plans
for the summer will interfere with All-Star Team Commitments then the Player / Parents will need to decline
the offer to play on the team. It will be about a 3 to 4 week commitment.
Tournaments:The All Star teams will play one tournament and/or one to two exhibition games depending on the skill level
and make-up of the team. Any tournament and or games will be played within an eighty mile radius of
Collierville and scheduled to take place after the conclusion of the CYAA Recreational season. No tournament
and or games will be played that requires staying overnight at that location.CYAA Board Commitment:For the 2008 season the commitment to the All-Star Teams by the CYAA Board will be:
(1) Cover the cost of any uniforms needed……2 jerseys and socks
