Combine Information:
The combine will be held Saturday July 31st, 2010
The combine will begin at :
-
9:00 am for the Senior Division (7th and 8th grade)
-
11:00 am for the Junior Division (5th and 6th grade)
-
1:00 pm for the Beginning Division (3rd and 4th)
The combine consists of 4 different stations. The first is getting the athletes height and weight. The other three stations are agility drills consisting of 40 yard dash, four corners drill and a tackling drill. Each athlete will be given a score of 1 through 5 for each agility drill. These scores will be used by the coaches during the draft process.
The combine takes approximately 90 minutes to complete due the large number of athletes that are rotating through each station. Athletes just need to wear shorts and a t-shirt and cleats or tennis shoes.
Any athlete that is unable to attend the combine can submit their height and weight by a physician to a board member so that information can be used during the draft process.
Players will check out equipment on the day of the combine. So, parents should be available to sign the paperwork required to receive all the tackle equipment.
Athletes that cannot attend the draft and do not submit a height and weight measurement will be placed on teams by a board member during the first week of practice. These athletes should report to the equipment shed to be placed on a team.
Draft Rules and Process:
Our draft process is similar to that of the NFL Draft in that it begins with a pre-determined number of players and team selection sequence.
The draft takes place after the combines. The President, Treasurer, Equipment Manager and Registration Chairperson coordinate and mange the draft process.
Each player is ranked by weight first and each team shall draft players according to weight in a best effort to balance the player size of the teams.
All teams have a Coach and/or Assistant Coach present for the draft. If neither can attend the draft, a league official will take their place. The draft will start with a Coach, assistant coach or league official drawing a number. The number that is drawn will be the order of drafting for the draft. The draft will consist of Coach A taking the first pick and then followed by Coach B,C, D and all others.
If a Coach or Assistant coach has a son/daughter in the designated grade group then that is a required pick for that coach. After each round a new number will be drawn and selections started over. If siblings players are in the same division, the coach will be required to draft both players when eligible and if parents wish for them to be together.
This style of draft will take place until all players have been drafted. Coaches or Assistant coaches will have 3 minutes from the time the draft official puts them on the clock. Each team may trade for one player. At the end of the allotted time, the draft is complete with all draft picks being final. There will be no trading or swapping of players.
