CYFL Senior Division Rules

General

The CYFL will play using NFHS rules with the additions/exceptions below (hereby termed

“modified rules”).

 

All players will play a minimum of six (6) plays per half. All playing times will be the

responsibility of the coaching staffs.

 

Length of Games

All games played in each tackle division will consist of four (4) eight (8) minute quarters.

 

Overtime Periods

Overtime period will consist of the NFHS rules for 10 yard overtime rules (page 78 NFHS rules).

If the score remains tied after this set of downs then the game shall stand as a tie.

 

Lines to Gain/Field Set Up

All tackle fields will be divided into 5 or 10 yard zones so that all yards to gain zones are 10 yards

and all penalties and fields conform to NFHS and MSHSAA rules.

All tackle fields will be marked with extended yard lines to mark coach’s boxes as follows:

Boxes will be at the 20 yard lines. No persons other than League Officials, Referees, Coaches, &

Players are allowed in the box. If anyone else is in the box that team can be penalized for

unsportsmanlike conduct and a 15 yard penalty will be assessed.

 

Penalties

NFHS rules apply for the calling of penalties as well as marking of penalties (penalties will be 5,

10, and 15 yard increments).

 

Modified Rules:

•     Defenses: There cannot be more than six (6) defensive players on the line of scrimmage at

     the snap of the ball. In the event this occurs, there will be a five yard penalty assessed

     against the defensive team.

 

•     Kickoffs: All kickoffs will be played as specified by NFHS rules.

 

•     Punts: Punting will occur in accordance with NFHS rules.

 

•     Place Kicking: Place kicks will occur in accordance with NFHS rules.

 

•     Scoring for P.A.T.: One (1) point for a run or pass, and two (2) points for kicks.

                             

Weight Limits for Quarterback, Running Backs and Receivers

The maximum weight limit for any player to advance the ball by running, receiving, or

passing is 160 pounds for 7th grade and 175 pounds for 8th grade in the Senior Division. The

weight used to determine this requirement will be the weight measured at Registration. NO

OTHER WEIGHTS SHALL BE USED.
