Letter from the President Minimize

Dear EAA Families:

It was a great honor to be re-elected as President of the Ellisville Athletic Association in September 2011, and since then we have been very busy working hard on projects for 2012.  On behalf of the loyal and dedicated board members, and countless other volunteers of the association, I welcome you to our website.  We take great pride in delivering outstanding sporting services to our families, friends and visitors.

We are extremely proud of our ballpark and the excellent service we provide to the community.  We exist to serve and continually seek new avenues to improve our ability to provide high quality sporting experiences for all.

In our attempt to deliver the very best in baseball/softball facilities you may have noticed some of the park improvements we put in place in 2011, such as;

Dugout Roofs:
  The dugout roofs on fields 3,4,5,6,7 and 8 were all completed in 2011 with new plywood bases and finished using rugged "ballpark green" louvered metal coverings.  This work gave the dugouts more durability, less maintenance needs and a much cleaner and uniformed look throughout the park.

Lighting: We re-lamped the entire ballpark using new and improved field lighting bulbs.  These improvements provided us with more efficient and brighter lighting to play under on our fields.

 Field #2:
This fall, the entire infield playing surface was professionally graded and leveled.  Once it was leveled it was finished off with state of the art Diamond-Pro infield conditioner, replacing the traditional dirt surface.

West Concession Stand:
We installed a high quality central air conditioning system in this building to help provide a better and more comfortable working enviornment for our staff and parent volunteers.

Recycling Program: 2011 was the first year that EAA provided recycling bins for the massive amount of our trash that can be recycled.  Thanks to all of you it was a  success and helped reduced our overall waste requirements.  This program will return in 2012 and please be sure to look for the "Green" bins.

If you enjoyed those great improvements you will be excited to hear what we have in store for the park in 2012.  Here are just a few of the highlights;

Field #1: Major improvements were made to this field in the fall.  We removed the existing grass infield playing surface and replaced it with a hot weather athletic blend Bermuda grass.  We also made improvements to the pitching mound and the area around home plate, along with a new load of the Diamond-Pro infield condtioner.  We also made much needed improvements to the warning track and perimeter areas with the installation of a visually appealing and durable crushed granite material.

Base Pegging:
  We plan to install base pegs on all the youth fields to help prevent the bases from coming up out of the ground during the game.  We feel this improvement will be safer and allow for a smoother game flow for all our teams.

Batting Cages: We are in the process of upgrading the existing batting cages adjacent to Field #1.  We expect to replace the current netting and construct new bullpens outside of the hitting areas.

As you can see things will be very busy for us during the off-season.  We are all very excited about the 2012 baseball/softball season at EAA.  Thank you again for all your continued support of the Ellisville Athletic Association.

Chris Schmitz-EAA President
