GENERAL ELIGIBILITY: SCL will field teams in the sports of Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Golf and Track. Said sports will be available for participation by any child registered in the parish, attending our day school or our PSR classes, or living within the parish boundaries. Children outside these areas are welcome provided there is roster space available and they get proper permission from the South County District. Each of the above sports will be played under the guidelines established by the Catholic Youth Council (CYC), with emphasis on instruction, sportsmanship, and providing an atmosphere where each child can develop their full potential in learning the game.

 

 

DETAILS ABOUT SCL SPORTS FEES: 

REGISTRATION FEE: The current fee structure for participation within the SCL Athletic Association is as follows: $70 registration fee and $20 concession fee for the first child. Each additional child incurrs a $70 registration fee which is then discounted and the $20 concession fee for each sport.

REFUNDS: There will NO refunds for any of the fees for a player who chooses not to play at SCL after they sign up, provided there is a team at SCL in their grade and classification for which they signed up to play.

LATE FEE: All online registrations received after the deadline will be charged a $35 late registration fee. Any child registering late runs the risk of not being placed on a team, at the discretion of the Lay Director and the Athletic Director. If we are unable to assign your child to a team, your registration payment and the late fee will be refunded. Please Note: This Late Registration Fee will be accessed per sport registration, not per player. In addition, if you register a child before the deadline, then register another child after the deadline, you are still accessed a late fee on the second child who registers past the deadline.

UNIFORM FEE: The SCL Athletic Association reserves the right to charge a family a fee,not to exceed $35, for each uniform either damaged or not returned to the uniform director. We also reserve the right to not distribute a uniform if fees are outstanding.

 

 

 

 

 

BOYS BASEBALL/GIRLS SOFTBALL

Seasonal Play

SCL Boys Baseball/Girls Softball plays in the CYC South County District.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE SPORT

  • All boys and girls from Kindergarten through 8th grade in the Spring are eligible for participation in the baseball/softball program. The boys play baseball and the girls play softball. Please see additional guidelines below.
  • Kindergarten through 2nd Grade teams participate in our instructional league hosted by SCL. Each team is assigned a weekly practice time. All games are played on SCL fields on Thursday or Friday evenings and Saturday mornings and early afternoons.
  • Teams may start practicing as early as they want, depending on field availability; but not usually before April.
  • Regular season games usually begin mid April Schedules will not be available until early April and will be distributed to team managers. Our instructional teams normally have a 7-10 game season, depending on their division. Grades 3 through 8 usually have a 10-game season. This is all determined by the CYC.
  • Depending on the number of children registering for baseball, we usually have 10-17 players per team.
  • Required items: Baseball glove
  • Recommended items: Plastic cleats, water bottles; bats are optional

UNIFORMS: The SCL Athletic Association provides uniforms for the players. The uniform sizes are: Youth Small, Youth Medium, Youth Large, Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large. For further details, please refer to our Uniforms page. Each player is responsible for the care and return of their uniform. Uniforms will be distributed by team managers to players that have registered and are listed on the roster. Within two weeks of the end of the season, it is the responsibility of players to return their uniforms to their manager or team uniform coordinator. Uniforms are to be returned to the Uniform Director by team. Anyone not returning their uniform in the specified manner will be charged a fee of $35 per uniform. This fee will be assessed during the registration process should it be necessary.

PARENT PARTICIPATION: All parents or guardians are encouraged to volunteer in our baseball program as a head coach, assistant coach, team manager, practice/game helper or party organizer (if necessary). If your team already has a head coach selected, please ask the coach what you can do to help the team. Please be advised that any adult volunteering to work with our children will be required to complete the Protecting God's Children Workshop and the Code of Ethical Conduct Booklet. YOUTH TRACK & FIELD

Seasonal Play

Our Track & Field program gives children, who enjoy running and field events, an opportunity to develop their skills while being part of a team. Children from 1st grade through 8th grade practice from March until mid-May usually two or three times a week at Lindbergh High School's track.

The children get an opportunity to try various Track & Field events depending on their age: 50M Dash, 100M Dash, 200M Dash, 400M Dash, 800M, 1600M, 400 Meter Relay (4 x 100), 800M Relay (4 x 200), high jump, running long jump, standing long jump, shot put.

Our season finishes with a CYC Meet at DeSmet Jesuit High School on a Saturday in early May, as SCL competes against children from many other St. Louis area parishes. The CYC Finals Meet, for those who qualify, will be held on a Saturday in mid-May at DeSmet.

ELIGIBILITY: All boys and girls, 6 years old by June 30th, 2010are eligible for participation in the Track & Field program if the child's family: (a) is a registered member of St. Catherine Laboure Parish; (b) resides within SCL parish boundaries; or (c) attends St. Catherine Laboure School. The CYC does NOT accept waivers for children that are not a registered member of SCL, lives outside the SCL parish boundaries or does not attend the SCL school.

UNIFORMS: The SCL Athletic Association provides uniforms for all Track & Field participants. All uniforms must be returned to the Head Coach at the end of the season. A fee of $35.00 per child will be charged to a family who does not return their Track & Field uniform, which you will need to agree upon during the registration process..

YOUTH SOCCER


Seasonal Play

SCL children participate in the CYC South County District. All children pre-K thru 8th grade are eligible to participate in the program. Pre- K thru 2nd grade participates in the instructional program. Grades 3 thru 8 participate in the CYC South County District leagues.

YOUTH VOLLEYBALL

Seasonal Play

The volleyball season begins in mid-August. We play in the South County CYC league. Games begin in mid-September and end in mid-November for children in grades 4th- 8th. Girl's games are typically played on Saturday mornings into early afternoons. Some overflow games are played on Friday evenings. Boy's games will be played on Sunday afternoons. Some overflow games may be played on Friday evenings.

The philosophy of our parish is to develop skills through practice for our third grade children; accordingly they will not participate in CYC league play.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE SPORT

  • 1st through 2nd Grade teams participate in our instructional league hosted by SCL. Each team is assigned a weekly practice/game time. All games are played on SCL courts on Sunday afternoons.
  • Regular season games usually begin early January. Schedules will not be available until late December and will be distributed to team managers. Our instructional teams normally have a 7-10 game season, depending on their division. Grades 3 through 8 usually have a 10-game season. This is all determined by the CYC.
  • Practices may begin as early as November, depending on gym availability, but usually start the first week of December.
  • Each team may participate in one or two tournaments during the season or at the completion of the regular season. All tournaments must be CYC sanctioned.

The instructional program will be given tee shirts by the SCL Athletic Association. These shirts will belong to the player at the end of the season.

GOLF

Seasonal Play

St. Catherine Laboure participates in the South County District CYC Golf League. We offer an instructional program for boys and girls in 2nd -4th grade. The program consist of practice time at Tower Tee with a golf pro and several tournaments on a par 3 course.
