Our Programs
Williamson County Soccer Association offers both indoor and outdoor leagues. All our programs are recreational, allowing players to improve their skills in a fun, positive environment designed to encourage their confidence and love of the game while learning sportsmanship and team-building. No scores are kept until the U11 division, and all players receive a participation trophy.
Our U5 and U6 divisions play 3v3 soccer: each team is comprised of up to 10 players that practice together. Each game day, the coach splits the roster into 2 teams, which play
side-by-side. Games are split into 4 quarters, with substitutions being made at the quarter and half. Players are encouraged to learn general balance and improve their eye-foot coordination.
The U7 and U8 teams are comprised of 12 players that play 4v4, on a slightly larger field. Games are played the same way as the youngest players: 2 teams playing side by side, with no goalkeeper. Players are learning to dribble and pass.
U9 and U10 teams play 6v6 as a single unit, on a bigger field. Games are no longer split into quarters, but consist of 2x25 minute halves. Play becomes more positional, with passing and receiving being more important, and teams now include a goalkeeper.
U11 and U12 teams play 8v8; teamwork and communication become more important as players begin to specialize in positions and become more skilled. Games consist of 2x30 minute halves, and the offside rule is in effect. Scores are kept, with first and second placed teams receiving trophies.
At U13 and above teams play 11v11 on a full-sized field, and FIFA rules are in effect. Scores are kept, with first and second place teams receiving trophies.
Williamson County Soccer Association has grown into one of the largest single-sport associations in Tennessee. Many of our players return every year and continue to grow in their skills and love of the game, but each season we also have many first-time players in all age groups, including U19. We are always delighted to be able to welcome back players who have grown up playing soccer with us, and now want to pass on their love of the sport to their children through our program.
Outdoor Soccer
WCSA offers fall and spring outdoor soccer. Fall and spring together are considered one full season, however, registration for each is separate, and players do not need to sign up for both. Teams are kept together (and in the same age group) as much as possible from fall to spring. Teams that do stay together will use the same uniform from fall to spring.
WCSA follows FIFA rules, except where minor modifications have been made to adjust for players’ ages. WCSA offers short-sided
soccer for ages U5-U11. A season will consist of 8 games, most of which are played on Saturdays, although some games may be scheduled for other days of the week, particularly in the older age groups.
Registration for our fall program generally begins in mid-March, with the deadline being in mid-July. Coaches are notified of their rosters in August, about a month before the season starts, and may begin practices immediately. Practice time is unlimited before the season starts, but after the first game teams may only practice for 1 ½ hours per week. Games usually begin the first Saturday after Labor Day, and continue through mid-November. Rainouts are rescheduled.
Registration for our spring program generally begins in mid-September, with the deadline being in mid-January. Coaches are notified of their rosters and may begin practicing in early February, and games start in early March and continue through mid-May.
Indoor Soccer
WCSA’s indoor games are played at the Robert A. Ring Indoor Arena on Downs Boulevard, in the Williamson County Soccer Complex. The indoor arena was renovated in June 2009: the pitch has been completely replaced, and the old boards and nets have been replaced with floor to ceiling glass walls to allow for more complete viewing of games. The game is fast and exciting, making full use of the glass walls; substitutions are allowed at any time when the game is in progress, and there are very few stoppages in play.
Currently, WCSA offers 3 indoor leagues:
Boys’ Winter League (for boys U9 thru U19)
Registration for this league begins in mid-September and runs through mid-October. The season starts around the beginning of November and continues for 6 weeks into the middle of December. Each team plays 12 games over 6 nights (2 half hour games per night). These may be played any day/evening of the week except Sunday.
Girls’ Winter League (for girls U9 thru U19)
Registration for this league begins in mid-October and runs through mid-December. The season starts around the middle of January and continues for 6 weeks to the end of February. Each team plays 12 games over 6 nights (2 half hour games per night). These may be played any day/evening of the week except Sunday.
Boys’ and Girls’ Summer League (for all players U8 thru U19)
Registration for our summer league begins in late March and runs through mid- June. The season starts around the middle of July and continues for 6 weeks through August. Each team plays 12 games over 6 nights (2 half hour games per night), which can be played on any day/evening of the week except Sunday.
Future Stars Clinics
These clinics are held on Monday nights during the spring and fall outdoor season and are open only to players registered with WCSA for that season in our U7 through U12 age groups. Each one and a half hour session focuses on developing age appropriate foot skills to assist our players' soccer development and enjoyment. We also run specialty clinics for goalkeepers. All clinics are designed and run by our Director of Coaching, David Cordero de Jesus.
Hot Shots Soccer Camps
WCSA’s Summer Camps are dedicated to providing the youth soccer players of Williamson County professional instruction in a positive environment. All camps are run by our Director of Coaching, David Cordero de Jesus, who is nationally licensed, and has more than 15 years coaching experience.
Little Kickers is the ideal half-day soccer camp for the younger player. Players participate in age appropriate skill games and finish each day with small-sided games.
Hot Shots Soccer Camp (ages 7-13)
Hots Shots provides the perfect atmosphere for the recreational player in the early stages of their development. The curriculum is a games approach to teaching skills as well as small-sided games each afternoon.
Hot Shots Advanced Camp (ages 8-16)
This camp is designed for players who have developed towards the intermediate skill level. Curriculum incorporates tactical themes along with skill work, which is reinforced with afternoon games. Players should expect increased physical demands at this advanced level.
Hot Shots Stoppers Camp (ages 8-16)
This camp is for players who would like to develop their goaltending skills. Players will spend the first half of each day with goalkeeping staff, perfecting individual technique, then incorporate what they have learned during team games with field players in their age group.
All camps run for 5 days over 2 weeks in June. Players may attend one or both weeks. Lunch is provided for an extra fee.
