Special Hockey

The Lane Amateur Hockey Association (LAHA) offers a special hockey program. The program is open to any player over age five, male or female, who is physically able to play, but would be unable to participate in any other organized program due to his or her developmental disability.

Special Hockey exists for the enrichment of the athlete with a developmental disability. In addition to physical hockey skills, the program emphasizes the development of desirable individual characteristics such as dependability, self-reliance, concentration, willingness to share and personal accountability. The game of hockey is used by Special Hockey to develop within each player the characteristics that will help the player to be more successful both inside and outside a hockey environment.

The 2016-17 program runs from October 10 through February 24. Practices are held on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:15 PM. Athletes should try to arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior the start of practice to put on gear. The cost of the program is $65 for the season.  Please pass this information on to other potential athletes or parents that may be interested in the program.
