      Jr. Vikings Football Cheerleading

      Grades 1-5

      This program provides an excellent opportunity for participants to learn what cheerleading is all about!  Each person who goes through the program will learn good sportsmanship, discipline, perseverance and be given the opportunity to develop leadership skills and make new friends all in a positive learning environment.  Cheer squads will be formed based on the number of participants.  Squads will receive uniforms, warm ups and poms to use while performing at feeder football games.

      Cheer practice will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8pm at New Melle Sports & Recreation (NMSR) in conjunction with football practice.  The cheer season extends from September 9 through November 11, 2017 and will conclude with a dinner and awards banquet on Sunday, December 3rd.

      Practices will consist of learning cheers, chants, safety skills, stunts, tumbling and the basic rules of football.  The Jr. Viking Cheer program is directed by a professional gymnastics/cheer coach with more than 25 years experience.  Trained parent volunteers will serve a coaches, spotters and squad coordinators, as needed.  Attendance at practices should be made a priority and is key to learning and performing well.

      A mandatory Parent Meeting & Orientation will take place on Monday, August 14th at 6pm at NMSR; First Practice is Tuesday, August 15th.

        If you love to dance and cheer, you're just the person we're looking for!!!

        The FHMS Spirit Team is for any outgoing person that wants to have fun, celebrate academics, behavior and character.  We have combined efforts wit the Jr. Vikings Cheer program to give our students a unique opportunity to learn dances, stunts, cheers, chants, jumps, safety skills, tumbling and other fun cheerleading activities, as well as, the basics of football!

        If you are a member of Spirit Team you will perform at various school assemblies, the district extravaganza, march Madness and at Jr. Vikings Football Games.  There are no tryouts and no experience is necessary.  This program is open to all grade levels and abilities.  So grab your spirit and join us today!

        Meeting Days:  Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:15-5:00pm in the Francis Howell Middle School Gym (please have rides ready to go by 4:50pm).

        The Jr. Vikings football cheer season will extend from Saturday, September 9th - Saturday, November 11, 2017 and will conclude with a dinner and awards banquet on Sunday, December 3rd.  All other Spirit Team activities will continue through April.
