St. Joseph Athletic Association offers volleyball for girls and boys in grades 3-8. Teams are made up of 6-10 players. No team will have more than 10 players to ensure plenty of playing time for all.
New for 2012…3rd grade teams will be formed to play a regular CYC league season. No training league will be offered.
The season is 10 weeks and runs generally from the weekend after Labor Day until early/mid-November. Teams qualifying for the CYC City/County playoffs continue play into early December.
Games are generally played on Saturdays for the girls and Sundays for the boys with the occasional Friday night game depending on gym availability.
Registration
Registration cost for 3rd – 8th grade boys and girls- $80/child; no multi-child discount
Registration cost includes league fees, use of uniform jersey and up to one pre or post season tournament.
***Please take care when registering to enter your child’s name EXACTLY as it appears (or will appear) on their CYC card. This is a CYC roster requirement and is very important if your team qualifies to play in the CYC City/County playoffs.
Registration runs typically from late April to early June. Check the main SJAA page and the bulletin for exact dates.
Late registrations will not be accepted unless a team is in need of players.
Referees/Scorekeepers
Anyone 7th grade and older interested in becoming a referee or scorekeeper will need to attend a training session in August. All referees must sign a Commitment to Ethical Conduct Form. Referees age eighteen or older who are not full-time students are required to attend the Protecting God’s Children class as well as complete the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Family Care Safety Worker Registration form (for background check).
