New Game Rules: 2012 County Athletic Association
Game Time: (Baseball and Softball) All youth league age divisions will play (7) innings or no new inning will start after 1 hour 40 minutes, whichever comes first.
Post Game Ejections: (Baseball and Softball) Sportsmanship and Acts of Disbarment: This rule will allow for disciplinary action to be taken on unsportsmanlike conduct that occurs during the last play of the game and/or after the completion of the game.
14U Boys Baseball Grid: 14U National Divisions will play 60.6/90
14U American/Continental will play 54/80
Metal Spikes: (Softball) Metal spikes will be allowed for use in 16U and 18U High School softball divisions.
Bats: (Baseball and Softball) Only baseball/softball bats may be used in baseball/softball games. T-ball and "coach pitch" bats are not allowed. The 1st infraction will result in the bat being removed from the game and the batter will be called out. The 2nd and subsequent infractions by the same team will result in the manager being ejected.
New 2012 Bat Rule: (Baseball) Section 10.09 The official baseball bat shall be round in cross section for the entire length of the bat, straight in length from end to end, and smooth surfaced in the hitting area. The maximum diameter is 2 3/4 inches and the maximum length is 36 inches. Any material to improve the grip may be used for a distance not to exceed 18 inches from the handle end. The bat shall be constructed of wood, aluminum, or any other material or combination of materials. All non-wooden bats for ages 14U and under are required to be rated "BPF 1.15". It is the responsibility of the team (s) to provide documentation from the bat manufacturer to verify than an un-lableled bat meets the BPF 1.15 requirement. (Adopted and approved January 05, 2012)
In addition, all bats for ages 15U and above must conform to the National Federation of High School Association's bat limitations. The NFHSA regulations are the sole discretion of that body and are subject to change at anytime without notice from the SLCAA.
Illegal Pitch: (Softball) Illegal Pitch as defined in ASA Official Rulebook, Rule 6 Pitching Regulations (Fast-Pitch) will be called by umpire (s). 1st Offense=Verbal warning to the pitcher; 2nd and subsequent Offenses=Will result in balls being called to the batter.
